Oreo Truffles

DSCF0435-014

Tonight I attempted to make Oreo truffles. They came out delicious… though not as pretty as I’d have liked, but it had everything to do with the type of chocolate melts I bought. I’m going to experiment and find some really good melting chocolate so I can get the texture and shape I want on my truffles. I got my recipe on RECIPE ZAAR, <--- click there for the recipe. I changed the recipe a little bit. I rolled my balls in powdered sugar after shaping them, this didn’t pose a problem in getting the chocolate to adhere to them later and it kept the mess on my hands to a minimum. I did have more trouble getting the white chocolate to drizzle because it wouldn’t get liquidy (is that a word?) in the microwave but I got it to work somewhat. I served them with fresh fruit. Here are photos of what I did.

This isn’t the last time I will make these, I just hope to have better success with the chocolate next time.

Use the really good chocolate. Giardelli. Or better. Pricier but worth it for coating purposes and much tastier! And if you'll add just a tiny bit of oil to the white chocolate, it will thin it out and drizzle better. (can ya tell I taught baking classes? heh.)
They look yummo tho....!!
