After leaving Arnaudville we travelled north west to Grand Coteau and our first stop was a little grocery store with a sign out saying that they had yummy barbecue goodness on the lunch menu.
Dave went inside to get our sandwiches and man am I glad he did, they were delicious and its a good thing he got us one to share because they were gigantic!
Deb and Norm led the way once we’d eaten our bbq sandwiches and we found all sorts of goodies here in the shops and with the merchants on the lawns.
The gift shops and stores were all open for business as well. Here are some photos from inside the antique store in the photo above.
This is an old clothes wringer. Thank goodness for the Maytags, GE, and Whirlpools in my life!
Taking Photos of one’s baby sister with different silly hats on is the obligation of the older sibling, dontcha know!
Lovely old high chairs, baby baskets and games were in this shop.
A closet with old baby clothes inside, the pieces were yellowed with age but still beautiful.
Old games showcased on a lovely old desk just inside the front room.
A really pretty guitar on sale displayed in its cushy case … yours for only $700!
There were quite a few food vendors along the road in Grand Coteau selling everything from funnel cakes to Natchitoches Meat Pies. There were delicious local fruit and produce for sale like these persimmons at one of the booths.
Coming tomorrow, photos from our trip to Glenmora up near Alexandria and a few photos of the goodies I brought home with me. I didn’t find a headboard for Erica but I sure did get some good ideas at a few of the shops in Glenmora.
