Fresh from the Garden

Summertime is almost here, lucky for us, spring brings fresh veggies from the garden ... I know thats not possible for everyone in the country and we feel especially blessed. Last night after a stroll around the yard, Dave and I went to the garden to check on the corn, there were a few ears ready for picking and its going to be a good crop. By the time this weekend gets here we'll have a good crop ready to harvest and can. We shucked about a dozen ears, fed the shucks to the cows and goats and after feeding the animals, throwing feed to the fish in the pond and closing the gate to the new pond we came back to the house and Dave grilled fresh tuna outside while I boiled the corn and made a salad. It was scrumptious!

You have corn already. Here in IA it's only about 4 inches tall. I am looking forward to awesome sweet corn. Have a great day!

Ahhhhhhhhhhh.....and memories of fresh, sweet corn delivered to my door, already frozen and ready to be creamed, come drifting back into this ol' mind!!

And I normally only like the corn that comes outa the crawfish pot!!
But that Katy corn is to die for....

Hi Katy, Your corn looks so yummy! How lucky you are to have fresh vegetables and fruit! My sister-in-law is a fabulous cook and one of the things she does is take the left over (cooked too much) corn on the cob (or cook it just for this) cut it off the cob, mix with chopped cucumber, pine nuts and ranch dressing. It doesn't sound like much, but it is so good and lite.
