Neglecting...

Sunday Lunch

Dave and I cooked together today, it was raining all morning and we woke up a little later than normal and decided to hang out in the kitchen together. We watched a few cooking shows while we cooked and were inspired! We smothered fresh pork sausage and made a delicious thick and creamy gravy to go over our creamy mashed potatoes. Dave loves buttery mashed potatoes and the only way to make the best is to cut the potatoes and cream them yourself, nothing out of a box for the Mister and he's not afraid of the work it takes to make them. They came out smooth and delicious! We also had a side of Bush's baked beans.
I chopped all the veggies for the shrimp salad, Dave peeled the shrimp and I chopped them before he cooked them with a tiny bit of shrimp boil and seasoning. I only had to add them to the chopped lettuce, tomatoes and cucumbers, then add a heap of mayonnaise spiked with Papa Scott's Camp Dog Cajun seasoning. Everything was soooo yummy!

Saturday at Lolli & Pop's House

We have Alex and Eli over for the day and Kali spent the morning with us. The little boys are sleeping now and I've got a few minutes to edit photos and upload them to my blog. The three of them think that Pop is a jungle gym and had a blast playing 'rock, scissor, paper' with him this morning. We went to Cane's for lunch then picked up a few things for a yummy smothered sausage and mashed potato lunch for tomorrow. I've got a chicken gumbo on the stove right now cooking for our supper. Davey and Claire are still working on moving into their new home and Alexa and Krista are helping out.

Latest Tablescape

Last Friday the housekeeper asked if we could please change the dishware on the table, I think she was tired of the aqua set I'd had out for almost a month! I've been busy with decision making meetings for the house and left it up way too long for her taste, so we took out these beautiful rose dishes and the pink glassware that I found while antiquing in Lake Charles with my sisters Robin and Debbie, brother in law Normand and Dave just a few weekends ago. They do complete the tablescape nicely.

About that supper....

I promised an update of the yummy supper from the other night. Dave cooked the hamburger patties to perfection and the bacon wrapped green beans were scrumptious! Layering the hamburger patty with tomato and lettuce and topping it with a little creamy French's mustard was perfect!

Fun Last Night! (Erica's Birthday Special)

For Erica's birthday this year she asked for her present really early, as in February! I bought three tickets for our daughters to all go together to the Taylor Swift concert at the Cajundome. Krista, our oldest daughter is in clinicals for nursing and couldn't attend due to a very early morning at the hospital today so she gave her ticket to lil Miss Kali. Man did was she ever surprised when Mama told her she'd be going to the concert after school yesterday afternoon. So Kali, Krista and I went down to Gulotta's Western Wear store in town and picked up the cutest little cowgirl boots ever, golden ostrich and red and man was Kali lookin sharp! She loved them! We came home to find Erica and Alexa getting ready to go and Dave and I decided to drive them there because it was rainy and we wanted to make sure they got there and back safely. The girls had a super time, loved the seats, said they were sooooooo close to the stage and sent a number of thank you texts raving over the great seats to Dave and me over the course of the night! They made some special memories together and Erica said it was SO much more special with her sister and Kali along for the experience! The girls took some super pics and I'm posting a few of them here in a collage. Great job on the pics girls! Eri also took some pics with her friends from swimming and with her cousin Jeanne and one with her friend Kayla from school! Everyone had a blast!

Swim Meet Tonight for Erica! (Part 1)

Tonight is Erica's first swim meet of the NISH 2009 season. She will be a busy bee in the coming weeks, I've been planning some easy menus so that I can have her eating healthy and get her to the meets on time. Tonight, we'll cook and eat after the meet because she will have to be in Lafayette at warm up practice by about 5:30. I've done the prep work this afternoon so that we can cook right when we get home. I've made an easy and healthy green salad with tomatoes, romaine lettuce, cucumber and carrots, Eri loves salad!

I also parboiled green beans and wrapped them with a little bacon, I'll be putting these under the broiler while Dave grills up some yummy hamburger patties outside.

For dessert we have a little chocolate cake, iced with cream cheese icing and I added caramel topping and a fresh strawberry finishing it off. I adore chocolate, caramel and strawberry flavors together. I'll post the after photos of the burgers and bacon wrapped beans after cooking them this evening along with a few pics from the meet! My dear friend Kim and her sweetie Gabe

When I found out my friend Kim was coming to her daughter's house for a long weekend for Labor Day I so wanted to visit with her, though we talk on the phone occasionally and communicate by email, but it was high time for an in person visit. On Sunday evening I had a shoot with one of my clients and went to visit her afterward. Since I already had my camera equipment I figured I'd get a few shots of her little eighteen month old grandson Gabe. Goodness gracious he's a cutie and such a good baby! We had a good visit and I captured a few fun shots of Kim with her sweetie and the adorable Gabe just being himself.

Finally all of the outside framing and prep work is done and we're almost ready for the brick layers and stucco guys to do their thing!

This is a view of the patio and carport area. We're sure to have lots of fun out there when the house is finished! Our whole family loves being outdoors and hanging out together while grilling, bbqing and just watching the little ones play!

Sunday House Update

We've got a whole lot on the schedule for this week and the house is prepped and ready for action! The changes will be in the plumbing, electrical, A.C. and flashing, not so visual changes, but I'll update again soon!

Two Fabulous New Kits

Shabby Miss Jenn has been a busy bee this month... she's created two super kits! Soccer Time was perfect for Kali's soccer photos from last season and the Little Dolls kit is fun and versatile! I even created a few layouts for the boys using it... without the doll elements and they're adorable! I love the colors in these two kits and had a great time playing with them, oh the possibilities! I'm sure I'll be using these lots more in the future!

Blogger wont allow me to add more than one photo right now, therefore we had five this morning! I'm hoping that's fixed soon!

Updating the House Construction

We're in a very good place at this point in the construction phase. The roof decking and protective paper are on the entire house and the solid exterior walls are almost all finished. The crew only has to finish installing the solid exterior walls under the patio and the south and west sides of the upstairs and they'll be finished their task.
Then we'll have the plumber, electrician, copper flashing installer, stucco and painters on site to do their rough ins and their part of the job. Its so exciting watching it all unfold. Shannon, our builder who is also running the project is well organized and has everyone lined up and keeps me up to date daily on what I need to order and have picked out and the date I need it for, he's very easy to work with and we count our blessings all the time when we realize what a gift he's been!
I'm also including this photo of our view of the back pasture where some our cows and goats were grazing with egrets scattered among them. It was a pretty sight with the black and white of the animals against the pretty green grass! I'm sure its soon to begin turning brown as summer fades into fall.

Kali's 3rd Year of Dance

Kali began her third year of dance just a few weeks ago. She loves her class and her teachers. I created this pretty pink and brown layout using all Shabby Miss Jenn Design kits.
