Flea Marketing in Lafayette

First Deb and I went to an estate sale, nothing much there for me, but she found a few things she loved. When we went to Where Pigs Fly... I got lucky! I found an adorable serving bowl and platter that match my robin's egg blue dishware and the kicker is that there's a magnolia in the middle of each. Its a lovely color and pattern! The other two things that I picked up which are note worthy are two cajun cook books, Enola's is signed by the author! I also came across a bicentennial plate with The Shadows on the Teche on it. It'll be a lovely display plate in my new kitchen :) The last thing I have to share is the Framed Tabasco Brand Pepper Flake advertisement. I found it on a previous trip to Crossroads in Opelousas last week. I don't even remember Tabasco marketing this product, probably was discontinued before I was born! Its a lovely find though and I'm happy to have it, I'm sure I'll find a place for it in the new house!

Valentine Day Tablescape

I'm participating in Tablescape Thursday for the very first time this week, please check out my general blog address here: Plucky's Blog Click on the image on the left to go to Between Naps on the Porch blog, home of the Tablescape Thursday hostess!

My very favorite holiday ever is Valentines Day. I love decorating the table for this special day and sharing a wonderful meal with my loved ones! All I need are more fresh flowers for the kitchen, dining room and den and we'll be all set!

Erica's Weekend

Saturday is Valentine's day and we thought we'd all be together, but Erica is going to district meet with COLA (City of Lafayette Aquatics) to help Coach Sarah. She loves being with her cousins and friends she practices with. She's not on the competition team at COLA, just trains with them year round. So this morning we gave her the Valentine's day gifts from Dave and me, a pretty robe, pajama pants, sweets and we'll have her VDay breakfast on Sunday since she'll be gone for my favorite holiday ever. The Valentine's day door hanger will allow her to choose what she wants for her special Valentine breakfast when she gets back. I made it with a template I created which is free right now with the purchase of any Template Pack at Kissed Studio. Here are photos of her with her Godson Elijah taken in January, another taken with Kali at her SES nighttime performance and PTO meeting, ane one of her holding Alex at the boy's birthday party in January. She sure does love her little niece and nephews! Happy Valentine's Day baby girl!

Monday Night Menu

On Sunday we started a new program here at the house, since all of us enjoy cooking, we each created a menu, generated a shopping list and Erica and I went over to Youngsville to Rouse's new grocery store and picked up the necessary goods to create our evening family meals. Rouse's is a super store! They have a wonderful produce department, lovely fresh seafood and the meat market is large and the choices are enticing! Monday night was Erica's night to be our chef for the evening, I helped her by doing a little prep in the kitchen during the afternoon, I chopped some veggies for her and peeled and butterflied the shrimp (which was added to the menu after we found them fresh at the grocery store) but she did the rest of the cooking and the meal was scrumptious! There's even a bit left over for a yummy lunch for the guys! I took a pic of Dave's salad (he's on a lil diet and didn't have the fajita bread, just the veggies, shrimp and chicken, splurging on a nice dollop of guacamole and some light sour cream.) Tonight is Alexa's night to cook and we'll have an update of how her meal turns out tomorrow. Under the chicken and shrimp are lettuce, grilled orange bell pepper and onion, chopped tomato and a little grated cheese. Everything was delicious! Great job Eri!

Valentine's Day Tea Party Planning

Ever since the New Year began Krista and I began planning Kali's very first tea party. Krista loved having her friends over when she was a little girl and having tea parties. We're pretty sure our girly girl Kali will enjoy it as well! We created invites and then began working on the tea party menu and gifts for the guests. I absolutely adore Shabby Miss Jenn's Valentine's Day kit Love Shack and used it to tie in all of the goodies. Valentine's Day 2009 will be a very memorable one for Kali.

Adorable Dessert Display Dish

Janey and I were browsing the window displays at Lou's Gift Shop in Gilmer after our visit at Tam's gorgeous home when we saw this adorable little single serving dessert dish with dome lid. I had to have a few of them. Brought em home and picked up some sweet Valentine's Day cupcakes to put into them. I'm smitten with these dishes!

Flea Market Finds

On Wednesday of this week when I was on my way to visit with my friends Janey and Tam up north... I stopped at the fleamarket in Opelousas called Crossroads. Man do they have some super stuff there! I'm going to be making regular trips to check out the new goodies! Had lunch there with my baby sis and it was scrumptious! The best turkey noodle soup and roasted pork brisket sammys with fresh raspberry lemonade! I added all these dishes to my collection! A few were finds up in Gilmer at Lou's gift shop and a little antique store.

I feel loved and special!

This week I spent a few days with my sweet girlfriends Janey and Tam up in North Louisiana and Northeast Texas. We had a fun time with a refresher class for scrapbooking with FotoFusion and Kissed Studio Templates. Both girls really got it right this time and they love templates! Yay!

The lovely gifts the girls gave to me are much appreciated and will be cherished! The sweet fleur de lis dry eraser marker for notes or a menu is from Tam and just so adorable! Erica already used it to jot a note to me! The lovely frame, tea pot and serving dish are from Janey and will be a beautiful addition to my table settings! Thanks so much for the special time you both shared with me, I just love the giggles and Tam you do tell some really wonderful stories of life! Janey put on a spread each and every time we ate... since then I've been begging for an entertaining recipe book from her featuring the absolutely to die for dishes! Thanks for the yummy treats Janey!!

Gumbo Lovin' Boys

The boys came over to watch the game with Pop and Lolli made a big pot of delicious chicken, sausage and andouille gumbo. Even after snacking on fruit and crackers they were all about eating some gumbo and man did they love it! Super bowl Sunday at Lolli and Pop's house will have to include gumbo for the boys from here on out!

Seaside...

I used Shabby Miss Jenn's delightful lil kit Seaside Picnic to create this layout. We were just talking about vacations last night with Kali after her program at school and she let us know that she can't wait to go back to the beach! Click on the layout to see a larger version in my SMJ Gallery.

Kali and Katie

Here's a layout featuring Kali and Katie the panda from SES. I used Shabby Miss Jenn's lovely kit Grandma's Scrapbook to create it. Click on the layout to see a larger version in my Shabby Miss Jenn Gallery.
