Sweet Baby Girl’s Closet

Our daughter Krista and her husband are expecting their first baby and its a sweet little girl. Krista and I are working on the nursery closet and we’re going to be using these to organize her little wardrobe. I created them using Shabby Miss Jenn Designs “BEE MINE” Valentine’s day scrapbooking kit and I love how they came out.

We had to put a little section for her LSU clothing she’s already received as Christmas gifts! Some of these sweet baby clothes are from her big sister Kali’s newborn wardrobe, it will be so sweet to see her little sister dressed in them!

Happy 4th Birthday Alex and Elijah!

Yesterday we celebrated Alex and Elijah’s 4th birthday with a Blast Off Space party for them, friends and family joined us for a fun filled afternoon at Davey and Claire’s house. The boys were blessed by so many with wonderful gifts and birthday wishes. Our theme was inspired by two cool little astronaut suits that Dave bought the boys on our Christmas time trip to the Natural Science and History museum in New York city and what a blast we all had at their party! The invitation, cake, party favors and banner were just too cute for our space cadets who wore their astronaut suits! I created all of these party printables with Kate Hadfield’s kit “Blast Off” which was simply perfect.

Here is the cake which was inspired by our invitation, it was made by Miss Penny who made all of their birthday cakes since their first! She is so talented and surprises us with each cake we order! We were so tickled that she could recreate Kate Hadfield’s little rocket from her Blast Off kit into the cake design~

Here are the treat favor bags we made for their friends and cousins who attended the party. Claire cut out a lot of little rockets for the treat bags and they really set off the theme for the party!

Included in each favor bag was a space themed sucker, a little styro foam space shuttle glider and delicious fruit snacks and Nerds.The boys love these veggie straws so we included them in the party favor bags with twin astronauts on the gift tag.

Aunt Kissy made a sweet treat and Claire bagged it up and we attached a thank you treat topper to the bag.

Little astronauts need to stay hydrated while they’re playing at the birthday party, I created this little Happy Birthday label to go around the bottle. The party colors were bright and cheerful! Our space shuttle pinata was a big hit at the party!

Davey and Claire served chili fritos and hot dogs for the guests along with fresh squeezed lemonade made from Papaw Don’s lemons.

I created a little banner for the birthday boys using Kate’s Blast Off kit elements and some string. It really set off the cake table area!

We had two very happy astronauts blowing out candles at the party! More party pictures to coming this week!!

This holiday season Dave and I took our two youngest to NYC the week of Christmas. Alexa and I went Christmas 2009 and this was Dave and Erica’s first trip to the Big Apple. We enjoyed a leisurely week, saw Wicked and Jersey Boys, Alexa also saw Phantom of the Opera one night when Dave, Eri and I did a little Christmas Shopping. We also spent half days each at the American Museum of Natural History and Metropolitan Museum of Art. We all had a wonderful time, here are a few photos I shot there with my little point and shoot camera.

Royal Sonesta Teddy Bear Tea

This Christmas Season just before our trip to New York Krista and I took Ian, Kali, Alex and Eli to the Teddy Bear Tea at the Royal Sonesta in New Orleans. The children loved seeing all of our favorite holiday characters and of course Santa. They took photos with some of their favorites!

Here’s a photo of Kali that I took this week, she’s in Mrs. Polk’s class this year and is a second grader. She loves reading and is a very good student. We’re proud of our girl Kali. Aunt Erica curled her hair before school on Friday, which was grandparents mass. Dave and I were able to attend together and that made Kali very happy.

When it comes to getting dressed… the twins love their cammo gear, it doesn’t matter if its shoes, crocs, boots, pajamas, shorts or pants, they will always be happy with it. This morning when I spotted their foot wear lined up next to the door I had to take a pic of it and share in a layout about their little obsession. I used Shabby Miss Jenn’s “Snuggle Up” kit to feature this photo and story in a layout.

I gotta say that these two boys have totally stolen my heart and have me wrapped pretty tightly around their little fingers. They’re as sweet and loving as they look and are all boy! Just had to share this sweet photo of them with all of you!

Their parents are pretty adorable too! Claire and Davey, September 2011. He’s running for District 13 Parish Council and we couldn’t be prouder of his commitment to making his community the best place it can possibly be, he’s going to raise his children here, where he grew up and we’re backing him 100%. We would be grateful for the support of those living in our district. Make sure you vote on October 22nd.

His hat is in the ring and his heart is in his family life and wants the best for all of us in this community.

I made this lovely layout using Shabby Miss Jenn’s latest “Wedding Day kit” it was perfect for a bridal photo I shot of Krista last fall just weeks before her wedding to Zach.

Alex and Eli are enjoying GBH and Kali is in the 2nd grade at SES this year, they’re loving their teachers and are so good at school! Alexa and Erica have started college again, Lexi at ULL and Erica in her first year at LSU in Baton Rouge. We moved her just last Friday and miss her already!

Here she is in her lovely new apartment bedroom, she designed and I painted the canvas hanging above her bed, she loved it and that made me very happy :)

Vacation Bible School

Kali, Alex and Eli are spending their mornings at VBS at St. Marcellus this week and are enjoying all the activities with their friends and cousins. Here are a few photos of them taken this morning. Aunt Kiss is there helping out today since she’s not working at the hospital. After opening prayers they split up into groups and began their morning of activities.

This week was a fun one for Kali at Blue Ribbon Camp at Academy of the Sacred Heart in Grand Coteau. Erica and I went there on Friday morning to watch her perform with her group and were so happy for her when she won an Outstanding Camper medal for her group. Congratulations to our girl Kali!

Last week, before the twins left for a week long vacation to Tennessee, they came over for an evening of supper and a movie with me and Pop. They felt like Christmas in June, so we watched How The Grinch Stole Christmas with them while they ate popcorn and sipped lemonade.

We do so appreciate teachers! To celebrate them and show them how much we care for them and appreciate everything they do we put together some little thank you gifts for Kali, Alex and Elijah’s teachers at St. Edward School and The Gingerbread House.

I used the adorable “Coffee and Cupcakes” kit by Kate Hadfield to make the “Thanks a ‘Latte’” gift tags for our Friday gift for all of the children’s teachers. You can find her scrapbooking supplies at The Lily Pad.

In our little to-go cappuccino gift package we tucked Starbuck’s instant coffee in Mocha, Caramel and Vanilla with 100 Calorie cookie packs and a little container of cream.

Here’s a close up of our label. We even added the children’s initials and a heart on her adorable coffee mug graphic.

For tomorrow’s gift for Kali’s teacher and her aid, we packed a gable box with a zebra print on it with yummy snacks, drinks, drink mixes, candy, cookies and the teacher’s favorite beverage. I used Kate Hadfield’s “Safari Malarky” … also available at The Lily Pad.

Here’s our decorated gable box. I love how it turned out and hope the teachers love it too!

Thanks to all of the teachers in our lives for being so generous with yourselves, we truly appreciate and love you!

Kali (Elocution Contest SES)

Kali was a finalist in the elocution contest at her school and she performed her poetry at the judging with 12 other first graders and won third place. We’re so very proud of our girl, she did a fabulous job! Congratulations sweetie!

Every week, usually on Friday morning, my Daddy calls me and asks if we need fresh eggs. His chickens are laying like crazy and he's got more than he and Mama can eat, so he offers them to us and to our kids. Its a small thing he can do that means a lot to us. We love the farm freshness and I envision him up early in the mornings, every day of the week, checking his coop, picking the eggs, cleaning them and storing them for sharing with our family. This weekend we have the little guys over for the weekend, their parents are celebrating their 5th anniversary in Chicago with a long weekend get away. After their naps this evening they went out to meet Pop at the pond for a little fishing time. They caught lots of fish and I captured some sweet photos and great photo memories for us all. (Alex is in the jeans and Eli is in the overalls.)

They ended their trip to the pond by feeding the fish and when we asked where they wanted to go for supper they both said “Duffy’s” at the same time, I really think they discussed it together before we asked! Duffy’s it is!

New Orleans Weekend

Dave flew us to New Orleans on Friday afternoon in his plane for an amazing weekend getaway. We had a very nice, smooth and relaxing flight on the way over and had a chance to catch up with one another and wind down during the 40 minutes it took us to get to the city. We spent the weekend at the beautiful Marriot Hotel on Canal Street, the same place we stayed on our honeymoon over 28 years ago. We had a relaxing evening on Friday, ate supper at the Bourbon House …

… then we went to the Famous Door and danced the night away.

The band playing there was playing good old 70s music and we enjoyed ourselves until the wee hours of the morning, stopping off at Alibi before turning in for a delicious snack. They really have the best late night, early morning food in New Orleans.

On Saturday we walked around the French Market and Jackson Square enjoying watching the artists painting and the street performers entertaining the crowd. There was one young man who designed a Transformer Costume and he entertained the crowd!

This first guy painted what I thought was very self reflective in a way because the colors in his painting were the exact same colors as his clothing. I loved his painting of St. Louis Cathedral through the park.

This artist really captured the city in a wonderful way and was my absolute favorite! Dave bought one of his water colors for our home, which is a very similar street scene like the one he’s working on in the photo above, in it he used colors that will compliment the colors in our home. Strolling down the streets of NOLA in the French Quarter is a treat on a Saturday, we heard so many wonderful street artists playing music and it was such a treat, there’s so much talent in NOLA that you have to stop and enjoy it as you visit the city.

We enjoyed one of the most delicious lunches I have ever had in NOLA at Frank’s Restaurant, it features Italian Cuisine and it is very, very good. Its located on Decatur Street near the French Market and so worth finding!

My slice of French bread was definitely heart shaped. :)

The shrimp fettuccini was absolutely delicious and their baked French bread topped with a little cheese was scrumptious, so light and crispy, we will definitely be going back when we visit the city! Dave took the photo of me below at Frank’s while we were waiting for our meal to come to the table.

Valentine Baby Doll Gift

Valentine Baby Doll Tea Party

At our Valentine party for Kali and her friends we had a few gifts for the girls baby dolls. I wrapped them up in small boxes with pretty pink lace and added a baby doll tag.

At a local dollar store I purchased pink baby bottles and fleece blankets for a dollar each and I sewed a little burp cloth using white fleece and a pretty pink and white toile fabric and finished them with top stitching for each girl’s gift.

I also found an adorable outfit on Etsy for Kali’s baby doll Mia that matched Kali’s tea party outfit. I forgot about this little gift until her friends left. She dressed Mia and allowed me to get a few photos of them together for her scrapbook album. The first is Mia in her pink and brown outfit with a cute Noah’s Ark button on the bodice.

Both outfits were made with soft pink corduroy and trimmed in brown ribbon with pink polka dots and both had little white blouses underneath. What a lovely pair and a beautiful photo for Kali to remember this day always.

Valentine Snack Buffet

The snacks we prepared for our little guests at the little tea party for Kali and her friends were all very child friendly, things that Kali loves to eat at wedding receptions and at our family gatherings. We had pretty roses on the buffet and used dishes that were smaller for displaying and serving five little girls. We had donuts, fresh berries, a vegetable tray with yummy ranch dip, chocolate cupcakes with vanilla icing, heart shaped pink and white marshmallows, strawberries and cream gummies, a tray of assorted chocolates and sugar wafer cookies and pink and white meringues. We served the children’s buffet at the table height counter to make it easy for the girls to serve themselves.

The week before the party I dressed Kali in her little Easter dress which came in on Monday, took photos of her with her American Girl baby doll Mia and an antique bassinet I found while antiquing. I created cupcake picks for the party using some of the photos of Kali. They came out really cute and some of her guests even took them home as a souvenir of the party.

In our little pill box containers the girls were delighted to find candy necklace, bracelet and rings.

We also had turtles, raspberry filled chocolates and kiss shaped ring pops in our little snack boxes at each place setting.

Valentine Babydoll Tea Party

Following our pink and brown party theme we decided on these sweet dishes. They are pink, brown and white and “Chocolate” themed. The place settings included a box of chocolates with a little custom label on it with the party guest’s name on it and a cluster of sweets. The graphics come from Kate Hadfield’s Lily-Pad shop. And this was our table setting. The lace wrapped gift was a book about tea parties and I made a book mark using Kate’s graphics also.

The flower beside the plate is a pink marshmallow rose.

As one of their favors from the party they were each given their little cup and plate. The cup comes with a little spoon that slips into the handle, very handy for making hot chocolate or putting sugar in their tea. We had several simple bouquets of white and pale peachy pink roses on our table also.

I’d rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck.

Bubbly Favors for our Guests

Valentine Babydoll Tea Party

One of our favorite party favors to give is sweet smelling goodies for the bath.

The bottle is a yummy strawberry bubble bath.

We also included a little lipgloss, cupcake bath fizzy and soap on a stick which I got from www.milkandcookeez.com, its adorable and smells great!

We found these rose petal soaps that are great for washing up and added them to the favor bag also.

I wrapped it all up with tissue in a cello bag and made sweet tags using Kate Hadfield’s graphics from her “Tea Party” kit.

Apron Favors for the Guests

Valentine Babydoll Tea Party

One of my favorite childhood books was “Mommy’s Little Helper” and the little girl on the cover of the book is wearing a sweet little ruffled edge apron, so I decided to make one for Kali and her friends and give them at the tea party.

I also bought Kali a book of Little Golden Book Collection which were all illustrated by Eloise Wilkin, she created the most beautiful images of children.

The fabric I chose for the girl’s aprons for the tea party was this beautiful toile in soft peachy pink and dark khaki brown. I found a photo online of a sweet little apron and made a pattern. My friend Keisha helped me make them for the girls, she’s got a binding machine which made it really easy to add the khaki color to the apron and make the ties on the back, she was a huge help and did a lot of work to make these aprons for our guests. Here they are all wrapped up ready for our guests.

I created a little flower to pin onto Kali’s apron to make it special.

I love the easy style of this apron, it slips over the head and ties in the back.

Valentine Tea Party

Kali’s annual tea party was held on Sunday to celebrate Valentine’s Day with a few cousins and close friends. Below are a few photos of Kali with her baby doll and an antique bassinet I purchased a while back for just this type of occasion. I’ll have more photos of the event and details very soon!

Children’s Museum with Alex & Eli

After our trip to the sale barn and lunch at Chili’s with Davey, the twins and I went to the Children’s Museum in Lafayette. They had been before, but it was for a birthday. This time they were able to play for a good long time in each of the areas that interested them! Their favorite areas were the pet hospital and the grocery store.

Their first stop was the medical area, while Alex was checking out the puppies, Eli was taking care of a newborn baby boy in the hospital.

Then it was off to play with the bubbles for a bit.

They loved the colorful fish in the fish tank.

While Alex shopped for his supper where he said he was going to be the chef, Eli was checking out his first basket full of groceries.

Our next adventure is the Jump Zone, hopefully next Wednesday!! Yay! I look forward to another adventure filled day with my favorite little guys!

The Twins take a Trip to the Cattle Auction

Last week I had the privilege of spending Wednesday with Alex and Eli and we headed over to the ‘sale barn’ in Carencro. They were fascinated with the whole auction process, even though I don’t think they quite understood what was going on. They wanted to pet every animal that came through the sale and fell in love with an adorable pony. He sold for only $300 and I have a feeling if their Daddy would have been in the auction room they would now have a pretty little horse.

They were very attentive and quiet during the bidding.

They couldn’t understand why they couldn’t get some animals to bring home too!

This is the pretty little pony they wanted to take home. He had four white stockings and a pretty white streak around his hind end.

He sure was a healthy and cute pony! After the morning sales were finished we went outside and the boys got to visit with my Daddy and brother Stephen who were there too. The boys loved playing with Stephen’s Heeler on the back of the truck while Uncle Stephen sold sacks of rice.

I’m editing some photos from our afternoon adventure and I’ll share them soon! I really think we’ll be going back to the sale barn again real soon, the twins loved it!

Little Boys and Toy Story

Whenever Alex and Eli come over for a night at our house there’s one thing you can be sure about, they will want to watch Toy Story with Pop on their bean bag chairs. In mid January they spent the night and enjoyed time with Pop watching Toy Story with a little box of popcorn and their snuggly blankets!

Pop went a little crazy with the bean bag chairs, he bought five for the houseboat so the little kids could be warm and comfy when they spend the night out there. I was very ready to see the ‘extras’ delivered to the boat! I hope you are snuggly warm this cold January day, enjoy!

Whenever I want to make a layout and just can not come up with a style or idea I most often turn to my scrapping hero Gerarda for inspiration. She is also a member of the Shabby Miss Jenn design team. She is one of the most talented layout designers I have ever come across since I began digi scrapping in 2004. Today I found inspiration from her layout named Christmas 2010.

Kali has been enjoying her guitar lessons at school. She has become quite the accomplished little guitarist. I’m so proud of her for practicing and how diligently she works at her finger placement. She has great hand eye coordination and will go far if she continues her lessons. Here are a few shots I took of her a during her winter holiday.

Our Private Pilot

Dave has been actively training for his private pilot's license and on December 17th, 2010 he received his certification to pilot an aircraft. This final check ride took place in Lafayette and he passed an oral test and flight test administered by an FAA-designated examiner. I'm so very proud of him and his accomplishment. I look forward to many fun trips with him into the wild blue yonder. I ask that all of you pray that he have safe flights and fair weather on his journeys.

Making Beignets with the Boys

Supper Time Dessert

Tonight we’re going to be cooking up some beignets at our house for dessert. I can’t wait for all the little ones to come over so we can work on it together. I bought this adorable little cookie cutter that make the perfect sized beignets. Kali, Alex and Eli will have fun cutting them out of the dough and then we’ll fry them up to a nice golden color and toss them in powdered sugar. Erica made yummy chocolate and French vanilla pudding to dip them in and its going to be a delightful treat. Erica and I made one batch this afternoon for practice and we can’t wait to get started.

Breaux Bridge Antiquing

I woke up this morning with the envie to go antiquing. I called Krista and Keisha to see if they wanted to go too and within forty-five minutes we were on our way to Breaux Bridge. We stopped by Chick-Fil-A for a quick lunch in Upper Lafayette then headed down the bayou to Breaux Bridge. Our first stop was Bayou Town Flea Market, one of my favorite shops and I scored a few really awesome items. Keisha spotted this Pyrex dish in my Gooseberry pattern. I already had the white one the same size with the coral pattern on it. This was a fun find!

Then I spotted this lovely little covered cheese dish in pink Depression glass. It’s so pretty and coordinates with my Gooseberry dishes so nicely. I also picked up a copy of “Talk about Good II” for Krista, for those times when she’s cooking and I’m not available by phone to have her cajun cooking questions. ;)

Our next stop was at Lagniappe Antiques on Main Street in Breaux Bridge. I found a sweet little cookie cutter that will be perfect for making beignets …. hopefully I’ll be able to make some of these tonight.

The last thing I spotted just before heading to the counter to check out was a precious and ornate little grapefruit spoon. There was only one, but that’s perfectly fine because I’m the only one in our home who eats grapefruit.

When I got home I had a little grapefruit snack and this spoon was perfect, it made it so easy to slip right into the grapefruit wedge and pop the meat out. YUM! The thing about antiquing and flea marketing is that you would think a little day trip like this would curb the urge to do it, but it only makes me want to go again… really soon!

Almost a Year Ago

We were celebrating our sweet boys Alex and Eli’s second birthday, now we’re preparing for their third birthday, it is quickly approaching and I just had to make a layout of them at two. The time passes way too quickly, it would be nice if this year of 2011 would slow down so we could enjoy them just a little bit longer as they grow!

Kali’s first Flight with Pop as Captain

She was as excited as I’d ever heard her when her Mama said she could come flying with me and Pop. We picked her up and goodness she looked adorable. Sassy jeans, black boots a chic black sweater from Gap Kid, the little black Coach purse Lolli got her in New York last Christmas and a feathered headband. To top it all off she was wearing a pink coat featuring a leopard print collar and cuffs. She was just too cute and so ready for her turn to ride in Pop’s plane. Here she is waiting to board while Pop starts his pre flight check.

She’s all ready to play stewardess and offers me and Pop some fruit gummies on the runway.

She’s such a trooper and flies very well. Little did we know yesterday that she had an inner ear infection (mama brought her to the Dr. today) but it didn’t stop her from enjoying every minute of her time in the air. Once we were on our way out to Cypremore Point she even took some time to play her new Nintendo DS sewing game.

These are a few photos of “The Point” as its known to the people who live in our part of Cajun Country. These camps that line the man made canals around the point provide lots of year round entertainment for their owners and guests. Lastly we flew over Avery Island where Kali’s Godfather, our son Davey was working with some friends on the Houseboat. She got to see where its being built and where it will be moved once construction is finished.

Stay tuned for more adventures our family will take as we journey into this new phase of life in Pop’s plane. Kali thoroughly enjoyed her trip and looks forward to her next ride with Lolli and Pop.

Bitty Baby Clothing and a New Layout

I found an adorable little sleeper at Walmart in preemie size and gave it to her for Christmas for her Bitty Baby doll she named Mia Marie. I was just sure it would fit and tonight she tried it on her baby and I have to say it fits nicely and its so adorable. Carter makes it in their “Child of Mine” line and it was only $7, for that price I tell you its really a good deal since baby doll clothes is way more expensive than that online and in local stores. Just a tip for all of you with little girls who love their American Doll Bitty Babies. The tag said 17” and her doll is 15, it fit beautifully!

Kali’s Latest Project

Yesterday when Kali and I went to Lafayette we stopped at Hobby Lobby and picked out fabric for Kali’s pajama pants project. This is for her second sewing lesson and we wanted to get it in before she went back to school after the Christmas and New Years Holidays. She picked a pretty fabric with lavender and purple butterflies accented in lime green with black outlines. There are a few flowers mixed in that are pretty shades of light blue, white and aqua. She chose a purple tee shirt and pretty lilac colored flip flops that match nicely with her fabric. We also found dotted grosgrain ribbon in coordinating colors and a bit of boa feather to put in the middle.

Here she is ready to start her pajama project.

I got her started by pinning and cutting out the fabric (she will learn how to do this soon too) then we were ready to go.

She remembers the sewing steps really well and today she did her own thread cutting. She’s very careful with the pins and scissors.

I made her a cute little bow to go with the pajama set and she was all ready to go!

Kali (Learning to Sew)

Today when Krista dropped Kali off in the morning before she went to work I had already decided that today would be Kali’s first sewing lesson. She could whistle, wink and snap her fingers by the age of two, so I figured she would be a champ in the stitching world! I can remember my grandmother and mama teaching me how to embroider when I was about seven years old and figured since Kali is six and a half that we could start teaching her the basics of sewing. For Christmas this year Pop and I gave Kali her very own Brother sewing machine since she has shown such an interest in learning how to sew when she sees me making something on my sewing machine.

Here she is with all of her materials ready to begin.

We decided since a pillow case is a very easy, straight lines beginner project that we would begin with that. So we ironed the fabric, cut out our pieces of fabric that Kali chose from our material box and set out to make the prettiest pillow case she’s ever seen.

I taught Kali how to stand away from the ironing board so that she wouldn’t burn her tummy, I set up the board at a height that she could comfortably move the iron around and watched her very closely so she wouldn’t burn herself.

She was very careful to keep the fabric straight and her stitching evenly spaced away from the edge. She followed the “2” line very neatly. She stopped about a half inch from each pin holding her fabric together to remove the pin and then continued.

She was careful and very neat. She remembered each time to run a few reverse stitches to keep her seams from separating.

After she was finished sewing I taught her how to iron open the seams and finish pressing her completed project. One of the most important things I learned when I was first learning to sew was to iron as I sewed and keep everything neat. It has been a valuable lesson I use today.

Here she is with her finished project, she’s going to be sleeping on it tonight!

What a happy and accomplished girl. Here are a few more shots of her finished pillow case. I have a feeling she’s going to want to learn how to sew lots of things!

It is so very neat and fresh, I know she will enjoy it!

Christmas Eve at the Larson Home

Our sweet boys were here on Christmas Eve to open presents and spend time with the family. They were too cute and had so much fun with Pop!

Kali was beyond thrilled when she opened her gift from Lolli and Pop… she really did jump for joy!

New Orleans Antiquing

While Krista and I were in New Orleans with Kali for the Royal Teddy Bear Tea Party we planned to do a little shopping on Magazine. I didn’t expect to find an antique store along the way but goodness was I excited that we did! I found a gorgeous Cranberry and cutglass pitcher that I fell in love with and had to have it. Merry Christmas to me! Isn’t it gorgeous!?

Yesterday evening Kali received a letter from the Royal Sonesta in New Orleans with all of the information about a Royal Tea she would be attending with her Mama and Lolli.

Elf delivered the letter because Kali has been a very good girl.

Kali woke up early and arrived at Lolli’s in plenty of time to get dressed in her Christmas dress and shoes, then she was off for a day to remember! Watch for highlights from this special event on my blog this week!

Our little Kali was an angel in one of the cutest Nativity scenes I have ever seen. A friend of mine commented on how cute our angel was in her school shoes, I thought it was a fitting title for today’s post. Daisy Winter Craft

I didn’t have a lot of time to figure this one out, but knew that it had to have a winter theme since they may or not get around to putting it together at the Christmas meeting and didn’t want it to be ‘out of season’ if they worked on it in January. I cut all the pieces for the girls because of time constraints at the meeting and included all the necessary beads, flowers and parts for the snowman in a ziplock bag. I put together a sample for the girls to follow and sent glue and a hot glue gun with Krista to the meeting so that they could hot glue the orange ‘nose’ bead on as it wouldn’t stick with regular white glue in the time frame they were working on. Krista said the girls had a nice time visiting and working on their craft at the meeting and they were all very proud of their little snowman bags. She’s going to bring photos from the meeting/party later today and I will share them soon!

I adore the ‘Daisy’ we added to our snowman to represent the club! Happy Holidays to you and yours!

Kali and her Daisy Christmas

Kali had a very important task tonight, bringing the treats and snacks for her Daisy meeting. We also put together a little holiday gift for her friends along with a craft for all of them to participate in. I’ll share the details about the craft tomorrow.

After we chose the type of cookie she wanted to feature on a recipe card, I found a good one in my cook book and designed a digital card using Kate Hadfield’s little spoon and cookie elements from her adorable Coffee and Cupcakes kit. You can find it HERE. I topped it off with a sweet bow from Ronna Penner’s “Essential Notions” Kit.

I slipped it into a little cello bag with a blueberry candy cane and a pretty lime green spatula for making cookies. I made a sweet little Daisy tag and added red and green ribbon along with a jingle bell to the top of the package.

The blue reminds me of the Daisy apron that the girls wear at their meetings. Kinda cute huh?

The girls loved their treat from Kali and I had fun making them!

Nutcracker Ballet

This past week Kali was surprised by Elf with tickets to the ballet and today she and her cousin Kayla went with Krista and MeMe to see the Nutcracker Ballet in Lafayette.

I took a few photos of the girls before they left. Kayla was in her Santa jumper and Kali wore the little ballet themed smocked dress I got her a few months ago at a craft show. They were so excited, I can’t wait to hear how they enjoyed it when they come to visit again!

Party Planning Fun!

When my friend Keisha asked for help putting together a construction party for her cousin’s little boy Nash who was turning three, I said a quick yes! I love working with her, she’s got great ideas and we work well together. She designed the cupcake toppers and water bottle label. We worked on the color scheme and pulled together some cute ideas for a great party package. Her cousin loved everything and was so excited to put on this party for her son. Working women everywhere need a little help and we’re happy to help!

Early today while everyone else was shopping and running the roads, Erica, Claire, Krista and I took Kali, Alex and Eli to see the wonderfully delightful Disney Movie “Tangled”.

Nope its not what you’re thinking, we didn’t get any cold weather, much less snow, but the snowman came and left a few gifts for the kiddies. Kali, Alex and Eli have a little something special in their snowman stockings and new Christmas pajamas to wear for decorating their trees and the holiday season. More photos to come of them in their PJs. I’m sure we’ll be watching a Christmas program in my tub and donning our new pjs soon afterward tonight!

Thanksgiving Dance Clinic for Kali

Two days this week Kali went to the CHS Western Hoe Down Dance clinic, she had a great time, learned a few line dances and two jazz dances, she did an awesome job and loved the fact that she wasn’t in the ‘baby’ group. She will be joining the CHS Dance team to dance at their Tuesday night basketball halftime performance next week. Her friend RIley also attended with her and we have a cute photo of her too! Homecoming, A Party, 2 Reunions and a Hayride

This weekend was fun and eventful for our whole family. Erica had her Senior year homecoming and was totally adorable. Here she is with her date Jory.

Dave and I went to the Homecoming game, NISH beat undefeated Terrebone 23 – 20 and we hung out with classmates for a few hours at The Sliman.

Davey and Claire attended their ten year reunion (where did the time go?!?)!

Krista and Zach went to Brie and Jered’s “Til Death Do US Part” Halloween themed engagement party.

And the little ones had a fantastic Halloween party with friends and family. Eli and Alex were cowboys, Kali was a Princess Leopard and Ian was a mobster!

Kali loves going out and “Booing” her friends and cousins. I put together some little treats for her to bring around the neighborhood tonight. She’s going to have a blast! I really think its more fun to Boo than to be Boo’d!

Halloween Party for Kali, Alex and Eli

We had a little supper party last night for the little ones at our house. Here are a few highlights. The boys and Kali were so excited to see the ghosts with treats off of the patio.

The place settings included little candy corn dishes and straws with crawly spiders on them. Each of the children got a ghost lantern to use while trick or treating this weekend.

The name tags on the ghosts were created using Kate Hafield’s adorable little cowboy graphic from her “ Ride em’ Cowboy” kit. you can find them “HERE” in her store. (Click the word ‘here’) Eli and Alex were a little dirty from riding the four wheeler with their daddy when they got here, but they loved the surprise!

The little ghosts on the back of the patio held treats for the little guys and Kali.

Here’s some of the party decorations and treats for the little ones on the treat table.

I created the treat bag labels with Kate Hadfield’s little graphics here as well. The cowboy is from her “Ride em’ Cowboy” kit and the nurse is from her “Doctor Doctor” kit.
